Each Crossroads mentor needs to be thoroughly trained before they can begin mentoring prisoners. Not only does this gift provide training materials for our new mentors — it also helps us send additional training resources to our mentors. Each month, we provide ongoing training and send a package to our mentors with tips and samples they can use when they’re marking their lessons.

This gift multiplies in value as our mentors interact with more and more prisoners!

Pay for postage and mail Bibles and Bible study courses to prisoners

Every lesson goes on a journey when it leaves Crossroads’ office. First, it’s sent to a prisoner. After they complete the lesson, the prisoner mails the lesson back to Crossroads. We mail it to a mentor for marking and reporting. After the mentor marks the lesson, they mail the marked lesson and letter back to the prisoner.

We cover the postage cost for Bibles and Bible study courses mailed to and from prisoners. Because our lessons are substantial, each one often costs $15 in postage. Every dollar contributed to postage helps mail a lesson to a prisoner in need of Jesus.

Introduce prisoners and their families to Jesus with easy-to-read manga books

Many prisoners never finished even the third grade, and struggle with reading. Our one-of-a-kind manga books illustrate Jesus’ story as an easy-to-read comic book. This series of five books covers the gospels, the book of Acts and the letters of Paul, Genesis and Exodus, and the lineage of the kings of Israel.

Regional Bible societies have reviewed the translation of these mangas and ensured their accuracy. This presentation is easy to read, and reduces barriers to salvation. Your gift will introduce Jesus to prisoners who have never heard of Him before!

Send prisoners art calendars

Time passes slowly in prison, and calendars are rare. We collect art submissions from students all over the country, and select the best for our annual calendar. Each month in our 13-month calendar features a large image from one of our students. Chaplains can provide calendars for prisoners upon request. They’re inspiring conversation starters about Crossroads and Jesus.

A calendar is a simple thing, but can mean so much to someone when they’re incarcerated. Your gift sends a chaplain 12 calendars for distribution.

Provide art booklets for prisoners

Art provides creative pathways to self-expression and an escape from difficult circumstances — which can be life-changing for incarcerated men and women. Along with their lessons, prisoners are encouraged to submit art. We compile the best art submissions into a bi-annual booklet and send it to prisoners, who find the art stimulating and encouraging.

Your gift sends a dozen art booklets to chaplains for distribution, and encourages students to pursue their creativity and share Crossroads with other prisoners.

Provide Bibles for prisoners

Bibles are essential to the spiritual growth of prisoners and to enrol in the Bible study courses. Our large print NIV Bibles are appreciated by prisoners, many of whom struggle with reading. Your gift provides much needed Bibles to prisoners, and also includes shipping.

God’s love is for everyone. These courses introduce prisoners to Jesus Christ, help them learn who they are in God’s eyes, and share how to live out their faith in response to God’s love. The courses also provide them with the specific training needed for ministry within their communities, both inside and outside prison walls.
